Aligning 3D Models
Overview
Model relocation is saved also on the server side, which means that when removing the model locally, model location will be remembered when downloading the model again.
You have several options to reposition a model:
X and Y position
Elevation
Scale
X, Y and Z rotation
Adjust the distance
Align
Position the Model
To position the model
Open a model in Trimble Connect for Windows 3D Viewer.
Open the Model Details Tab.
You can adjust the following:
X and Y position
Elevation
Scale
X, Y and Z rotation
Close the panel when you are done.
Move the Model
Move the model by picking points in the 3D View.
To move the model
Open a model in Trimble Connect for Windows 3D Viewer.
Open the Model Details Tab.
Click Move.
Pick the first point (this should be the point you want to move).
Pick the second point (this should be the point you want to move to).
The first point selected will be moved to the second point selected.
The distance, elevation and X and Y values will get updated with the new position.
Rotate the Model
Rotation axis (X, Y or Z) needs to be picked first. Rotate the model by picking points in the 3D view. You need to pick two points to define the reference line, and pick a third point to define the rotation.
To rotate the model
Open a model in Trimble Connect for Windows 3D Viewer.
Open the Model Details Tab.
Click Rotate.
Pick the rotation axis (X, Y or Z).
Pick the first point (this will be the origin point).
Pick the second point (this will define your reference line).
Pick a third point to define the rotation.
Align Two Model
Align the model with another model by picking points in the 3D view. You need to pick the start and end point for the first line, and then for the second line. The angle formed between the two lines is the rotation angle.
To align the model
Open two models in Trimble Connect for Windows 3D Viewer.
Open the Model Details Tab.
Click Align.
Pick the start and end point for the first line.
Pick the start and end point for the second line.
The angle formed between the two lines is the rotation angle.
Reset Placement
Model location and scale can be reset back to the origin (and scaled back to 100) by clicking the Reset Placement button.
